One of the things I learned right away when I came to Mexico was that I was all wrong about Mexican food and taste. Here is one item that was hard for me to understand at first. Every Sunday several of the church members sell tortilla chips with anything you want on them. Below is "tostilocos" with jicama, cucumber, chili candy, salsa, chamoy sauce (very tangy, sweet sauce), nuts, and pig skin. It's really about trying to cram every texture and flavor you can into one snack.
Our family enjoys this just about every Sunday. (Usually not with the pig skin.)

Okay so I have decided I'm a TexMex kinda girl. I have to say that that doesn't get my taste buds going, nope not at all.
I'm glad you have become such a part of the country that you like their foods, it's important for a missionary.
It's Sunday so enjoy your snack!
ARG! Now you can see why Mexicans are fleeing Mexico. They are looking for decent Mexican food.
I'd leave the pig skin on though.

It looks pretty good to me!
Tori, we throughly enjoyed our snack today! We also had cucumbers with lemon, salt, and chili powder.
When we get a bag of these, they disappear in about two minutes flat.
Dad, I bet they miss this stuff a lot.
Rita, Come on down! We'll share-but you have to fight with my kids to get your portion!
Sarah, it looks interesting. I'd give it a whirl. But I would probably end up eating just the chips w/ the sauce on them. And ROFLOL @ what your Dad said!!
I just stopped by to visit your blog via Ladies of Grace. How wonderful that you and your family serve in Mexico. I am the "prayer chairman" of our ladies missions group and stand in awe of our missionaries.
Take care and have a wonderful week.

Hi Sarah Joy!
I've enjoyed looking around. We have a lot in common. I have 4 girls and then a baby boy. We are missionaries in Portugal. God Bless you as you labor for Him!
Sounds like an interesting snack.
