A Budding Theologian

Rebecca was sitting in the kitchen while I was working and holding my Bible in her lap. She'd been thinking. (Keep in mind she's four.)

"Is Jesus the Word of God?"

"Yes, He is." This question didn't surprise me too much because we were talking about this last week. The next question surprised me, though.

"Is Jesus the Bible?"

Huh! Good question!

I answered that one by telling her that the Bible is the only place we can get to know Jesus-the Bible is how Jesus shows Himself to us. But I had to put on my thinking cap.

Scary what kids can come up with. Another good way to answer the really hard ones is: "That is a good question and Daddy wants to answer that one."

Rebecca is always thinking.

That is so cute! My little boy (5 years old) asked me the other day if the Bible says that everyone has to be brother's and sister's in Christ..... I sure am glad he pays attention to someone. :-)

One of mine asked if Jesus was the light of the world, and when I answered yes, She asked where he went when it was dark!

That was a very sweet conversation!! We moms always have to be ready to think fast, and the older my kids get, the harder that is!! Your children are adorable, by the way. I have a new baby boy who is maybe just a little younger than yours. I'm enjoying your archives very much!! :-)

Precious moment to file away for future reference!

I wanted to thank you for your comment on my blog tonight concerning the terrible acts at Va Tech. I hope I didn't come across callous as an anonymous commenter thought! God knows my heart and intentions. I am concerned that our kids, especially young men, don't know what to do in the face of danger anymore becasue like you said, they aren't allowed to be REAL MEN due to political correctness! You seemed to have gotten my point from the post. I was starting to doubt myself. I would hate to ever be taken as a careless, heartless, callous person!
